Q: Why is a DJ who is “insured” important?
A: Any damage to the hall or hall contents that occurs while a DJ is moving-in or moving-out equipment to your function would be charged to you if your DJ is not insured. In addition, if any of your guests were hurt at the function under a wide range of circumstances, it is common that victims sue a wide range of suppliers as well as the venue itself for a settlement. Comprehensive Commercial Liability Insurance usually covers any of these occurrences.
Q: What License does a DJ require?
A: Most DJs are using “compiled” music on CDs or compressed music on computers to provide music service for your function. In these cases (which are almost 100% in some form or another) the DJ requires an CONNECT music license. This is a copyright license to duplicate music for DJ service at your function.
Q: Should I feed the DJ at my Reception?
A: Absolutely! Your music provider will be working before, during and after your event. They will be setting up and making sure that all the sound and lighting equipment is perfectly set-up for your event. After your event, they will have to pack it all up and load it out to their vehicle.
These days it's not uncommon for a DJ to work for more than 10 or 12 hours on the day of your event. I'm sure you can see why it's important that food and hydration be available to your DJ Staff. If the DJ or Party Host has to leave your function to eat then your function will not have its coordinator or music provided during that time.
Q: When will you set up for my event?
A: We will arrive a minimum one hour ahead of the scheduled start time and set-up our equipment and do a sound test to ensure everything is working well.
Q: Can we select the music that we want played?
A: You can select up to 25 songs for your event. This allows us to accept request from you guests and play songs that we feel will get your guests up on the dance floor. We will not play songs with explicit lyrics. The selection of songs played at your event will be at the discretion of the DJ. We have found, as a professional DJ that sometimes hosts of a party want only one type or genre of music. This is wonderful for the people putting on the party, but often some of the guests may want little more variety of music selection. So, we suggest that while you may favour a certain genre of music, you ought to be mindful of your guests’ request. Your guests will have a lot more fun at your event if there is a wide range of different types of music. Please consider what your guests might enjoy. Idea here is to have fun and to keep the dance floor full.
Q: What kind of payment do you accept and do you need a deposit?
A: We require a deposit of 25% in the form of cheque, cash, money order or Paypal upon acceptance of your signed contract and the remainder due 7 days before the event date.
